DEANNA LACK

Deanna Lack, like so many of us, has had a long circuitous spiritual journey.  She was raised in Cleveland, Ohio, in a family that was Catholic and Jehovah’s Witness, and spent some years in full-time ministry as a Witness.  The twists and turns of life caused her to question her faith, and she began seeking sanctuary in other religions such as paganism and Buddhism.  Now, she finds inspiration in nearly all faiths, and in the thought and writings of a broad variety of thinkers, both spiritual and secular.

As she grew more comfortable with herself, she married a Tennessean and moved here to Tennessee, and became more engaged in social activism.  Seeking community where she could retain her individual beliefs while also working on social justice, she was attracted to the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Cookeville.

Deanna is currently completing her associate’s degree in English, while training as a commissioned lay minister.  For dedicated people without a doctorate in divinity, a pathway is available to the pulpit.  Why not come walk with us as you travel your spiritual journey?  Show your support for Deanna as she provides guidance and support to the congregation, while learning essential leadership skills.

Your spiritual journey may have been long and hard as well.  Why not travel with us a while?  We can offer you moral support as you try to understand your place in the world and attempt to decipher your own religious beliefs and disbeliefs.

"Come, come, whoever you are,
Wanderer, worshiper,
Lover of leaving.
Ours is no caravan of despair.
Come, yet again, come."
